Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank says he is confident his side can respond positively in Wednesday’s testing Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain, despite coming into the match on the back of a bruising derby defeat.
Speaking to reporters in Paris, Frank admitted he was deeply disappointed by Sunday’s 4–1 loss to Arsenal, acknowledging that Spurs fell well short of the required level. He said the team showed intention but failed to execute their plan and struggled to compete throughout the match.
Frank, however, framed the upcoming clash against PSG as an opportunity. He recognised the scale of the challenge but insisted his players were “fully up for it” and capable of producing a strong performance. Spurs were beaten by PSG on penalties in August’s UEFA Super Cup and have lacked consistency recently, yet they remain well-placed midway through the league phase of the Champions League.

Tottenham are unbeaten in four European matches and sit 10th in the 36-team standings with eight points, one behind holders PSG. Their 4–0 victory over FC Copenhagen in their last continental outing remains their only win in five games across all competitions. They have managed just three wins in 11 matches stretching back to late September, a sequence that has increased scrutiny on Frank.
The manager, who succeeded Ange Postecoglou in the summer, said working through difficult spells was part of the job. He stressed the importance of patience as he continues to embed his ideas, pointing out that setbacks such as the derby defeat must be used as learning moments.
Meanwhile, France forward Randal Kolo Muani, currently on loan from PSG, will hope to make an impression against his parent club as he looks for his first Tottenham goal. Frank noted that injuries and fitness issues have slowed his adaptation but expressed confidence that the striker’s impact will grow with time.
