The explosion occurred in a vehicle parked near the entrance to the district court in Islamabad, which is usually crowded with litigants. Local news outlets displayed graphic images of the scene, featuring bloodied individuals near a police van.

This terrorist attack in Islamabad happened just one day after 13 people lost their lives in New Delhi, the capital of neighbouring India, due to a car explosion.

Pakistan and India have accused each other of harbouring terrorist groups responsible for such violent incidents.
