Esther Okoronkwo has been voted the Super Falcons’ Fans’ Player of the Tournament at the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Okoronkwo clinched the fan-voted honour ahead of five of her teammates who were also nominated for the award.
Among the shortlisted players were team captain Rasheedat Ajibade—named the official Player of the Tournament by the Confederation of African Football (CAF)—as well as Jennifer Echegini, Ashleigh Plumptre, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Chiwendu Ihezuo.
Okoronkwo emerged as the winner of a fan poll conducted on the Super Falcons’ official X handle.
The 27-year-old forward was a key figure in Nigeria’s victorious run at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The AFC Toronto star contributed two goals and six assists across six matches, underlining her impact on the team’s success. Her performances also earned her a place in CAF’s Best XI of the tournament.
