Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has signed an executive order designating Karim Lamido Local Government Area as a special security concern area.

The decision followed extensive security assessments and consultations with relevant authorities after years of recurring violence in several communities within the council area.

The order was signed at the conclusion of a high-level security meeting with key stakeholders from the locality.

The government clarified that the designation does not constitute a state of emergency, does not suspend civil authority, and is not directed at any specific community, religious group, or ethnicity. It stressed that lawful activities such as farming, trading, worship, and local governance will continue without disruption.

Governor Kefas assured residents that they have nothing to fear, noting that the measure is temporary, subject to periodic review, and will be implemented in strict accordance with the Constitution and respect for fundamental human rights.

Religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, and other community stakeholders were urged to work closely with security agencies to promote peace and stability.

The statement reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining peace across Taraba State, adding that it would continue to take proactive, lawful, and people-centred actions to safeguard the well-being of all residents.
