TCN Says Nigeria’s Power Generation at Four-Year High

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that the nation’s power generation reached 5,713.60 megawatts on Tuesday, the highest level achieved in the last four years.

In a Tuesday announcement, TCN disclosed that this latest number marks the highest peak generation for 2025 and was effectively transmitted throughout the grid.

“This was recorded on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 21:30 hours, with the new generation peak of 5,713.60 megawatts (MW), surpassing the previous peak generation of 5,543.20MW achieved on February 14, 2025, by 170.40 MW,” the statement read.

This new record exceeds the earlier peak of 5,543.20MW reached on February 14 by 170.40MW. However, TCN said that although the latest peak is 88MW less than the record of 5,801.60MW established on March 1, 2021, it is still a notable accomplishment.

Furthermore, the company indicated a new record for maximum daily energy generation, which rose to 125,542.06 megawatt-hours, surpassing the former record of 125,159.48MWh set in February.
