Teenage darts prodigy Luke “the Nuke” Littler secured his first World Series title of the year, defeating Mike De Decker 8-4 in the Australian Masters on Saturday night.
The victory in Wollongong, south of Sydney, marked a significant win for the 17-year-old, who has become a global phenomenon since his stunning performance at the World Darts Championship in January.
Littler, who is currently the world number two, overpowered his Belgian opponent after also beating Damon Heta and Stephen Bunting on his way to the final.
This win was especially sweet for Littler, as it avenged his loss to Gerwyn Price in the Australian final last year.
“It hadn’t gone to plan on the World Series circuit this year,” Littler said, “but there are plenty of opportunities to win, and I’ve finally picked up that trophy.”
The win is the latest milestone for Littler, whose surprise run to the World Darts Championship final made him a household name.
His popularity is so immense that he was the most-searched-for person in the UK on Google in 2024, surpassing both British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles.
Littler will now turn his attention to the next World Series event in Auckland, New Zealand.
