Tense Exchange as Wike, Soldier Clash in Abuja

A dramatic confrontation unfolded in Abuja on Tuesday involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a uniformed soldier who prevented the minister and his entourage from accessing a piece of land, sparking a heated back-and-forth that has since gone viral on social media.

In the video, Wike can be seen engaged in a tense verbal exchange with the soldier after an apparent disagreement over access to a landed property in Abuja’s Gaduwa district. The situation quickly escalated, revealing a rare moment of defiance from the officer.

“You cannot be higher than any government. You cannot be carrying a gun to intimidate anybody. I am not one of those who can be intimidated.” Wike could be heard saying.

Despite the minister’s threat, the military officer maintained he and his colleagues would not vacate the land, as they were working under orders.

The standoff, which ended with Wike angrily dismissing the officer, has sparked widespread debate about the limits of political authority and the dignity of the armed forces.
