Thailand Prepares Evacuation of Citizens from Middle East

Iran Targets US-Hosted Bases in Middle East.

Thailand is preparing to evacuate its citizens from the Middle East using military or chartered flights, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Sunday, following escalating attacks between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

He said the government is working with the Royal Thai Air Force to ready aircraft, prioritising citizens in Iran, while also considering charter flight options.  Authorities are assessing airspace restrictions and may evacuate citizens to a third country if necessary.

Anutin noted that tens of thousands of Thai workers are in the region, including about 59,000 in Israel and over 11,000 registered in Abu Dhabi, which oversees the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Iran.

He assured that the government would take all necessary steps to ensure the safe return of any Thai citizen who wishes to leave.

“The Thai government will do everything to bring Thai citizens back safely. If they want to return, we will take them back,” Anutin said.

The evacuation plans come as tensions rise after US and Israeli strikes on Iran triggered retaliatory missile attacks, widespread airspace closures, and flight cancellations across the region.
