Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Sunday left Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The President is scheduled to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit in early January, following an invitation from the UAE’s President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on X (formerly Twitter), the weeklong summit brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to advance global discussions on sustainable development.

The 2026 edition of the summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on linking innovation, finance, and people to drive sustainable growth.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
In a report from Punch News, the trip comes days after the President arrived in Lagos to spend the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
He was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, government officials, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
