The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State held a massive endorsement rally for President Bola Tinubu and state governor Usman Ododo on Saturday, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello passionately defended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the President as the “angel” sent to fix the country.

Bello praised Tinubu for his courage in implementing tough decisions, such as floating the Naira, reforming the exchange rate, and removing the petrol subsidy.

He argued that these were essential political and economic decisions that several previous presidents had failed to make.

“Today, we have the president who is courageous, who is taking this country to the next level,” Bello stated. “Instead of Mr President thinking of the 2027 elections… he decided to take the bull by the horns.”

According to the former governor, these policies are already yielding results, “opening the economy for every one of us to thrive.”

He pointed to private investors and corporate individuals “thriving,” adding that the achievements for farmers, artisans, and students are publicly available and verifiable.

Bello firmly stated that progress requires difficult choices, declaring that “Mr. President has a lion’s heart, and nobody should dare him, because you have us to contend with.”

He connected Tinubu’s actions to the long-held aspirations of Nigerians, recalling demands made before 2015 for a “new Nigeria” featuring subsidy removal, student loans, a floated exchange rate, and increased foreign investment.

Concluding his address, Bello identified the man implementing these changes: “We will not wait for God to send an angel with wings to fly into Nigeria to fix it. Should I tell you who the angel is? The angel is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
