President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to investigate the killing of a woman and her six children in the Chiranci community, Kano State.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president condemned the attack, describing it as a barbaric act, and expressed sympathy with the affected family.
Tinubu praised the police for promptly arresting key suspects and instructed law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute those responsible.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Government’s resolve to protect lives and property, stressing that violent crimes would not be tolerated.

The victims, identified as Fatima Abubakar and her six children, were reportedly killed on Saturday after suspected hoodlums invaded their home in Dorayi Chiranci Quarters, Kano, and attacked them with dangerous weapons.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa said it received a distress call around 12:10 pm on January 17, reporting an attack on the residence of one Haruna Bashir. Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, deployed a team of officers led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Lawal Mani, to the scene.
Police said the victims were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where doctors confirmed them dead.
The command disclosed that three principal suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings after intelligence-driven operations carried out between the night of January 17 and the early hours of January 18, 2026.
The arrests were made on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
