President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that his administration is determined to defeat terrorism and banditry threatening the country.

Tinubu gave the assurance in his opening remarks at the ongoing National Executive Council Conference on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development on Monday.

He said security remains a top priority for his government and warned that insecurity poses a serious economic burden if not addressed urgently.

“And I am leaving here again to further find means to strengthen our security forces to defeat terrorism and combat it; that I promise you. It is what has kept all of us sleepless at night, but I assure you that we will win with determination and resiliency,” Tinubu said

“We will overcome this unacceptable terrorism and banditry; it’s not part of our culture, it’s foreign to us. So, it’s an economic encumbrance if we do not find an immediate solution to it.”

The president commended several governors for their contributions to preserving the nation’s security and freedom, particularly those of Borno, Katsina, and Kaduna.

“I commend many of you, particularly the governor of Borno State, the governor of Katsina, Kaduna and many of you who have done so much to defend our freedom, liberty and our commonwealth,” he said.

He added that his government is working to strengthen macroeconomic stability through improved revenue performance, stronger public financial management, and enhanced physical coordination.

His administration has also prioritised the development of digital connectivity, housing, irrigation, power, and transportation infrastructure as drivers of inclusive growth, Tinubu claims.

Tinubu also disclosed that his government has expanded social investment and human capital programmes to support vulnerable households, youth, women and small businesses, noting that the Renewed Hope Ward Development Project reflects a grassroots, bottom-up approach to development.

According to him, the Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030 will guide the next phase of national development, with a focus on “economic diversification and productivity, human capital development, subnational competitiveness based on comparative advantage, and climate resilience.”

“Its success largely depends on effective implementation at the state and local government levels, making it central to aligning national priorities with local realities,” Tinubu noted.
