President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides are slated to spend about ₦12.2 billion on foreign and local travel in 2026, according to details of the State House budget estimates.

The figures are contained in the 2026 Appropriation Bill submitted to the National Assembly for consideration.

A breakdown of the budget shows that international travel accounts for the largest share of travel and transport spending for both the President and Vice President, despite ongoing fiscal pressures and economic reforms.

For President Tinubu, a total of ₦7.01 billion was allocated to travel and transport. This includes ₦6.14 billion for international travel and related logistics and ₦873.89 million for local travel and transport.

The Vice President’s travel budget stands at ₦1.73 billion, made up of ₦1.31 billion for foreign travel and ₦417.49 million for local movement during the 2026 fiscal year.

An additional ₦3.43 billion was earmarked for travel and transport under the State House Headquarters’ general expenditure.

Beyond travel, the budget also allocates ₦179.01 million for the purchase of motor vehicles for the President, ₦375.19 million for food and catering supplies, ₦79.68 million for drugs and medical supplies, and ₦56.43 million for refreshments and meals.

Overall, the total allocation for the President amounts to ₦8.39 billion, including other recurrent and capital items, with capital expenditure estimated at ₦777.19 million.

For the Vice President, the budget provides ₦171.03 million for food and catering supplies, ₦14.99 million for refreshments and meals, and ₦21.8 million for honorarium and sitting allowances.

Other provisions include ₦28 million for welfare packages and ₦11.83 million for publicity and advertisements. In total, the Vice President’s allocation stands at ₦2.64 billion, with a capital expenditure of ₦641.39 million.

The State House Headquarters received a total allocation of ₦43.20 billion for 2026, comprising ₦2.64 billion for personnel costs, ₦10.10 billion for overheads, and ₦30.49 billion for capital expenditure.

Further details show allocations of ₦11.23 billion for the purchase of motor vehicles, ₦7 billion for solar power provision in the Presidential Villa, ₦2.42 billion for wildlife conservation, ₦2.56 billion for office furniture and fittings, and ₦513.84 million for welfare packages.

The budget also includes ₦3.84 billion for vehicle spares and maintenance, ₦8.48 billion for rehabilitation and repairs of office buildings, and ₦44.21 million for residential building rehabilitation.

Other items listed include ₦371.80 million for library books and equipment, ₦12.19 million for sporting and gaming equipment, and ₦11.71 million for the construction and provision of office buildings.
