The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across the state for the commissioning of key infrastructure projects scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
The state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, released a statement on Tuesday, saying that the temporary closures are necessary to ensure safety and the smooth conduct of the events. He advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and avoid affected routes during the specified periods to reduce traffic delays.
According to the statement, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. This will affect traffic around Opebi, Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota. Motorists using these routes during the period are advised to take alternative roads to avoid congestion.

On Thursday, two separate commissioning events will take place between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The first is the inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex, which will affect traffic in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle. Road users in these areas are advised to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time.
Later in the day, from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 pm, another event will be held at Eko Hotel on Victoria Island. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays. The statement added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and other traffic officers will be on the ground to control traffic and assist road users.
It was also reported that about 500 additional LASTMA officials have been deployed for the events, which will be attended by President Bola Tinubu.
Osiyemi urged residents to cooperate with traffic officials and follow all instructions to ensure smooth movement during the events.
