The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced adjustments to Saturday’s Abuja-Kaduna train schedule due to the upcoming Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) elections slated for Saturday.

The corporation’s Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, announced this in a statement posted on X on Wednesday.

“The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) wishes to inform the general public and our esteemed passengers that there will be a slight adjustment to the outbound train schedule from Abuja to Kaduna on Saturday, 21 February 2026, due to the FCT Council Elections,” the statement read in part.

The NRC boss also advised passengers to arrive at the station early before the restriction on movement commences and apologised for the inconvenience the revised timetable would cause.

Preparations have commenced for the AMAC election in the FCT, as candidates and political parties gear up. Registered voters will elect preferred candidates to fill seats across the six area councils in the FCT.

Operatives of the FCT Police Command have been deployed ahead of the elections. The police also announced a restriction of movement from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on election day, with exemptions for essential service providers and election officials.
