Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 29 suspected terrorists in coordinated operations across Borno and Yobe states between February 20 and 22, 2026, according to the Nigerian army.
The operations targeted insurgents in Lamusheri Village in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, and also the Limankara Forward Operating Base and Kukawa in Borno State.
The military, in a statement on Sunday, through its spokesperson, Lt Col Sanni Uba, said troops “ decisively thwarted coordinated terrorist attacks in Limankara and Kukawa, Borno State.”
“The failed assaults, launched on the night of 20 February 2026, clearly reflect the immense pressure being mounted on terrorist enclaves, logistics corridors, and leadership structures across the theatre,” Uba said.
According to Uba, 15 insurgents were killed during a precision operation in Lamusheri Village.
He said troops, working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged the fighters in a firefight after coming under attack.

“During the ensuing firefight and exploitation, 15 terrorists were neutralised while scores fled with gunshot wounds,” he said.
Uba added that “Extensive defensive and life-support structures were destroyed, five terrorist tricycles and two vehicles used for attacks and logistics were set ablaze, and a cache of arms, ammunition, bandoliers, and carmine pouches recovered.”
In Kukawa, 14 insurgents were killed after troops repelled an attack involving gun trucks and motorcycles. Air support was deployed during the engagement.
“Air platforms conducted precision strikes, destroying one gun truck and neutralising four fighters inside.”

The military said additional fleeing fighters were tracked through aerial surveillance, leading to the destruction of five motorcycles and the killing of 10 more suspects.
Thirteen AK-47 rifles, magazines and communication equipment were recovered.
The statement also confirmed that one soldier was killed during the operations.
“Regrettably, one gallant soldier paid the supreme price, and some combat enablers were destroyed by rocket fire during the engagements.
“The wounded were promptly evacuated by Nigerian Army Aviation helicopters and are all in stable condition.”
