Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed six terrorists and rescued a kidnapped underage girl during coordinated raids on insurgent camps in Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out in the Sububu Forest area of the Maradun Local Government Area.
The troops’ spokesperson, David Adewusi, in a statement on Sunday, said the action was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in rural communities across the North-West.
“The operation, aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring peace to the State, has resulted in the neutralisation of 6 terrorists,” Adewusi said.
According to Adewusi, troops first raided Indulumu village, where two terrorists were neutralised and one AK-47 rifle was recovered. The strike force then advanced to Ruduno village, killing four additional terrorists, he disclosed.
Items recovered during the encounter included another AK-47 rifle and a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, while two motorcycles used by the group for movement and logistics were destroyed.
Adewusi said troops later pushed deeper into the forest, where they rescued a kidnapped underage girl identified as Halira Ibrahim.
He added that several terrorist camps and support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga and Kukatara were also destroyed during the operation.
