Trump Hails Gaza Ceasefire as Triumph

US President Donald Trump told Israel’s parliament on Monday that the forces of “jihadism and antisemitism” had failed, as he praised the Gaza ceasefire which he helped to broker.

“Together, we’ve shown that peace is not merely a dream but a reality we can build — day by day, person by person, and nation by nation,” Trump said.

He declared that the region’s long history of promoting terrorism and extremism had yielded only failure and suffering. “It should now be clear to everyone that decades of fomenting terrorism, extremism, jihadism, and antisemitism have not worked. They’ve been a disaster,” he added.

Trump described the agreement that secured the Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages held by Hamas as a major success, expressing gratitude to mediators from the Arab and Muslim world.

“I want to convey my deep appreciation to all the nations in the Arab and Muslim world that joined forces to press Hamas to free the hostages,” he said. “We received help from many quarters — including some unexpected ones — and I sincerely thank them. This is a remarkable triumph for Israel and the world, with so many nations now working together as partners in peace.”
