United States (US) President Donald Trump has announced that a draft peace agreement involving the United States, Iran, and several Middle Eastern countries is close to completion and will include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement from the Oval Office, which Trump posted on his social media account, he said he had discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain regarding a Memorandum of Understanding focused on peace and regional stability.
“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization,” Trump said, adding that final details of the deal are still being discussed.
He also revealed that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the conversation “went very well.”

According to Trump, one major outcome of the proposed agreement will be the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route that has faced tensions during the Iran conflict. He said a formal announcement on the agreement will be made soon.
