The Palestinian Health Ministry reported on Sunday that Israeli settlers shot and killed two men in the occupied West Bank, marking the second fatal encounter in just two days.

The victims were identified as Thaer Faruq Hamayel, 24, and Farea Jawdat Hamayel, 57.

The shooting occurred in Abu Falah, a town located northeast of Ramallah, though specific details regarding the timing of the attack were not immediately released.

This incident follows a separate attack on Saturday in the village of Wadi al-Rakhim, where settlers reportedly killed 27-year-old Amir Mohammad Shnaran and injured his brother.

Local officials stated that armed settlers entered homes in the area during the confrontation.

The Israeli military confirmed it is investigating both events, noting that security forces were deployed following reports of violent clashes between residents and settlers.

Violence in the West Bank has surged to record levels since the regional conflict intensified in late 2023.

According to health officials, over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops or settlers in the territory since that time.

Despite a broader ceasefire in the region, tensions remain high, with Palestinian authorities accusing settlers of exploiting the security climate to target civilian communities.
