Two members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing persistent internal crises and leadership challenges within the party.

Shamsudeen Hassan Basko of Talata-Mafara North Constituency and Nura Dahiru of Birnin-Magaji Constituency announced their decisions in separate letters dated December 3, which Speaker Bilyaminu Moriki read during plenary.

Hassan said ongoing conflicts, internal divisions, weak leadership, and marginalisation at both state and local levels influenced his departure, adding that staying no longer aligned with his political direction or the interests of his constituents.

Dahiru stated that leaving the APC would allow him to pursue goals that better serve the people he represents.

Both lawmakers expressed appreciation for their time in the party and requested formal acceptance of their resignations.

Following his exit, Dahiru formally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara.
