The president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has accepted an invitation from the United States to join President Donald Trump’s proposed Board of Peace, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
The ministry said in a statement that the acceptance was announced by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister.
According to the statement, Sheikh Abdullah said the decision reflects the UAE’s support for the full implementation of Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
“His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasised that the UAE’s decision reflects the importance of fully implementing President Donald J. Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza, which is critical for the realisation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people,” the statement read.
It added that the UAE was prepared to “contribute actively to the mission of the Board of Peace, supporting greater cooperation, stability, and prosperity for all.”

Trump’s administration has invited several countries to join the Board of Peace, an initiative originally conceived to oversee post-war reconstruction in Gaza but whose mandate, according to its charter, is not limited to the Palestinian territory.
The charter describes the Board of Peace as “an international organisation that seeks to promote stability, restore dependable and lawful governance, and secure enduring peace in areas affected or threatened by conflict.”
It adds that the body will “undertake such peace-building functions in accordance with international law.”
The Board of Peace will be chaired by Trump, according to its founding charter, but he will also “separately serve as inaugural representative” of the US.
