Visitors who need a visa to enter the United Kingdom will receive only an electronic visa from February 25, 2026, UK officials have said.
The UK Embassy in Ghana announced the change in a short statement posted on X on Monday.
The electronic visa, known as an e-visa, will replace the visa sticker currently placed in passports. Under the new system, travellers will access their visa information online.
“The UK immigration system is going digital,” UK in Ghana wrote.
“From February 25, 2026, visitors to the UK who need a visa will get an eVisa only. e-visas replace visa vignette stickers in passports.”

The new rule will apply to visitors from countries that require a visa to travel to the UK.
The UK government also said on its website that applicants who successfully apply for a visit visa or some other visa types on or after February 25, 2026, may no longer receive a visa sticker.
“Instead, you will need to access your e-visa through your UKVI account to see the permission you have been granted before you travel to the UK,” the government said.
It added that applicants will be informed on how to access their e-visa and whether they will receive a visa sticker.
