Samir Zitouni, the 48-year-old British train worker who suffered multiple, critical injuries while protecting passengers during a mass stabbing on November 1, has been discharged from the hospital.
Praised by police and the transport minister as a “hero” who “undoubtedly saved people’s lives,” Zitouni’s family released a statement expressing gratitude for the public’s support.
While they are happy he is home, they emphasised that he still has a “significant recovery ahead” and requested privacy to care for him.

The train’s driver also received commendation for executing an emergency stop that allowed passengers to escape.
The suspect, Anthony Williams, 32, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
