The head of Ukraine’s SBU security service, Vasyl Malyuk, reported on Friday that Ukrainian forces have carried out nearly 160 successful strikes on Russian oil and energy facilities since the start of 2025.
The strategic goal of this intensified campaign is to deplete the energy revenues that Moscow relies on to fund its military invasion.
Malyuk provided this update during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The list of damaged infrastructure is extensive, reportedly including six refineries, two oil terminals, three oil depots, and nine oil pumping stations.

These persistent attacks on critical energy assets have resulted in tangible economic pressure within Russia, leading to spiked domestic petrol prices and prompting the Russian government to impose a total ban on fuel exports, though the Kremlin has attempted to downplay the overall impact.
According to the security chief, Kyiv is actively developing new methods to attack these facilities as Russia escalates the air defences protecting its energy sites.
In a separate, unelaborated claim, Malyuk also stated that Ukraine managed to destroy an experimental Oreshnik missile system in a southern Russian hangar over a year ago, before the hypersonic weapon could be deployed by Moscow.
