The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution calling for the protection of children in armed conflicts.
Led by Malta, the resolution garnered the support of all 15 Council members and was co-sponsored by over 100 UN member states. It condemns all violations of international law involving the recruitment and use of children in warfare.
