US Presidential Hospital Locked Down Over Gun Scare

Authorities in Montgomery County, Maryland, where the facility is located, later confirmed that the situation had been resolved. A suspect was arrested, and it was determined the individual had been carrying a replica firearm, not a real weapon.

Earlier in the day, the Navy unit responsible for overseeing the medical complex issued a statement saying security teams were responding to reports of a possible active shooter and that the installation remained on lockdown as a precaution.

The Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre, located just outside Washington, is one of the United States’ most prominent healthcare facilities for wounded service members. It also houses the medical unit responsible for the care and routine health checks of US presidents.
