Since the escalation of violence on October 7, 2023, the United States has provided over $22 billion in military support to Israel, covering operations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
From October 2023 to December 2023, the US delivered more than 10,000 tonness of weapons valued at $2.4 billion, increasing to 50,000 tons by August 2024 through hundreds of shipments by air and sea. This aid includes advanced military equipment such as Iron Dome missiles, precision-guided bombs, AH-64 Apache helicopters, heavy artillery shells, and bunker-busting munitions.
The US, historically Israel’s largest ally, has supplied 69% of its arms from 2019 to 2023, rising to 78% during the ongoing conflict. Since 1946, US military and economic aid to Israel has exceeded $310 billion, adjusted for inflation, as reported by the Council on Foreign Relations.
A $38 billion military aid package, signed in 2016, continues to allocate $3.8 billion annually for foreign military financing and missile defense. Additional emergency packages in 2024 added billions more, including a $14.1 billion package in February and a $2.5 billion shipment in March.
However, this extensive support has faced criticism over the lack of Congressional oversight and concerns about the use of US-supplied arms in civilian areas in Gaza, which has led to mounting scrutiny both domestically and internationally.
