Voting has begun at Polling Unit 007, situated within St. Stephen’s Nursery and Primary School in Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections.
The exercise, which aims to elect chairmen and councillors across Lagos State, commenced promptly at 8:00 a.m. in line with the official schedule. Electoral officials from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) arrived on time and swiftly began the accreditation and voting process.
One of the early voters was Jubril Gawat, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, who cast his ballot at the same polling unit.
A noticeable police presence was observed at the location, with officers deployed to maintain order and ensure a calm and secure environment for voters.
The elections are being held across all 20 constitutionally recognised Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
