Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, was recently seen at the O’DA Art Gallery stand during the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London.

The exhibition, which runs from 16 to 19 October at Somerset House, features strong Nigerian participation, with O’DA Art among the represented galleries.

The gallery’s presentation, titled “Lines of Spirit,” showcases works by Nigerian artists Simon Ojeaga, Paul Majek, and Afeez Onakoya.

A circulating video on social media shows Edun engaging with visitors at the gallery stand. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga also posted the video on X, confirming Edun’s presence in the United Kingdom.

“Finance Minister Wale Edun visits an art exhibition in the UK. He is in the country for an officially approved short break from the demands of managing the Nigerian economy,” Onanuga wrote.

Earlier reports suggested that Edun had been unwell and was expected to travel abroad for medical attention. On Sunday, Onanuga confirmed the minister’s health concerns.

As a result, Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso led Nigeria’s delegation to the annual World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings in Washington, DC.

Edun reportedly left Abuja for Lagos on Monday night aboard a commercial flight before continuing his journey overseas for medical care.
