A violent water dispute between two communities in Chad led to the deaths of at least 33 people and left several others injured.
The clash, which occurred in a village near the border of the Bahr-El-Gazel and Hadjer-Lamis provinces, centred on the ownership of a shared well.
Government officials and an army contingent have been deployed to the area, though local sources indicate that tensions remain high.

This is not the first instance of violence in this region, which has seen similar deadly conflicts over resources—such as land, water, and livestock—in the past.
