Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency previously imposed on Rivers State, describing the move as a restoration of democratic governance.
Wike expressed his gratitude in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka. He said the President’s decision had reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to peace and the preservation of democracy across the country, while also saving Rivers from further political turmoil.

According to the minister, Tinubu’s timely intervention has renewed the confidence of Rivers people in his leadership. He also lauded residents of the state for their continued faith in the President and their support for his ongoing efforts to steer Nigeria back onto the path of development and progress.
Wike urged all political stakeholders in Rivers to unite and work collaboratively for the good of the state and its citizens. He cautioned those who thrive on crises, particularly so-called fifth columnists, to stay away from the state, stressing that only news of peace, progress, and development should emerge from Rivers going forward.
