Bundesliga club Wolfsburg parted ways with manager Ralph Hasenhuettl on Sunday, just one day after their crushing 4-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund.
The club released a statement on Sunday, May 4, confirming the termination of the Austrian’s contract, citing poor results over recent months as the main reason for the decision.
Wolfsburg has struggled, losing six of their last eight matches and winning only twice since January.
After being in the race for European competition earlier in the season, Wolfsburg’s recent slide has left them in 12th place in the league standings.
Hasenhuettl, who replaced Niko Kovac (now Dortmund’s manager) in March 2024, had joined Wolfsburg after a four-year tenure at Premier League club Southampton.
In the interim, Daniel Bauer, the club’s Under-19s coach, will take over the managerial duties.
