Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has ordered the immediate dismissal of four aides over their alleged role in the assault of a serving councillor.
The decision followed the conclusion of investigations into the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, who represents Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the directive was communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, after the submission of a report by a special committee set up by the state government.

Misilli explained that the committee’s findings, supported by reports from security agencies, formed the basis for the governor’s action.
The dismissed aides are Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).
Governor Yahaya directed that the dismissals take immediate effect and instructed the former aides to return all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities.
According to Misilli, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for violence, misconduct and abuse of public office, warning that such behaviour will not be condoned under any circumstances.
