Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has presented an ₦861 billion budget proposal for the 2026 financial year to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a blueprint for transformation and a step toward a stronger Zamfara.
The presentation took place on Thursday in Gusau, the state capital.
The budget earmarks ₦714 billion for capital expenditure, representing 83%, while recurrent expenditure stands at ₦147.28 billion, or 17%.
Governor Lawal reaffirmed that his administration, elected on the mandate of rescue, reform and revival, has focused on rebuilding trust in public institutions, revitalising key sectors and laying foundations for sustainable development.
He said the budget, tagged Budget of Stability and Growth, is designed to consolidate progress under the Six-Point Rescue Agenda.

The governor outlined priority areas, including strengthening security, modernising agriculture, improving healthcare, expanding access to education, accelerating infrastructure development and empowering youths, women and vulnerable groups.
He emphasised that no ward or community would be left behind.
Lawal noted that keeping recurrent spending at 17% reflects fiscal discipline and aligns with global standards recommending subnational recurrent expenditure below 60%.
He said the capital expenditure plan marks a historic commitment to infrastructure renewal, security enhancement, agricultural growth and increased opportunities for young people.
