Zelensky Proposes Three-Way Meeting with Trump, Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for a trilateral summit involving himself, US President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt Russia’s three-year invasion.

This proposal comes despite Putin’s earlier rejection of a bilateral meeting with Zelensky in Turkey, with the Kremlin insisting that any direct talks would only occur after an “agreement” is reached.

Speaking to journalists, Zelensky stated, “If Putin is not comfortable with a bilateral meeting, or if everyone wants it to be a trilateral meeting, I don’t mind. I am ready for any format,” confirming his readiness for a “Trump-Putin-me” meeting.

The Ukrainian leader also urged Washington to impose severe sanctions on Russia’s banking and energy sectors.

He recalled Trump’s confirmation that sanctions would be imposed if Russia did not cease its aggression, expressing a strong desire for the US to target these two key sectors.

This plea follows Zelensky’s apparent frustration with Washington’s earlier failure to announce fresh sanctions after Russia rejected a coordinated Western appeal for an immediate ceasefire.

Hours after Zelensky’s comments, Ukraine launched one of its largest-ever drone barrages, firing almost 300 drones at Russia, though Moscow reported only minimal damage.

On the battlefield, Zelensky stated that Russia is “amassing” over 50,000 troops near the northeastern Sumy border region, where Moscow is establishing a “buffer zone” within Ukrainian territory.

He also noted that Ukraine has yet to receive a promised “memorandum” from Russia outlining its demands for a peace deal.
