CHAN 2020 qualifiers: Botswana begin with a win

Botswana began their African Nations Championship qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Seychelles at home in Lobatse. Botswana last won a qualifier in 2008 when they beat Zambia 1-0 at home.

Thatayaone Dithokwe put the Zebras ahead in the 58th minute after a goalless first half. Segolame Boy doubled the hosts lead six minutes later giving Botswana a two-goal aggregate lead ahead of the return match in Seychelles on the weekend of 10-12 May.

In another CHAN first leg, first round qualifier, Swaziland and Malawi played out a 0-0 draw in Manzini, a game that produced few clear-cut chances.

CHAN is a tournament played by African footballers who ply their trade on the continent. Next year’s edition will be hosted by Cameroon.
