At least 12 members of the House of Representatives have formally announced that they are leaving their political parties and joining new ones.
During plenary on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, informed lawmakers of the latest round of defections on the floor of the chamber.
According to the announcement, six lawmakers have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a separate development, another six legislators also switched parties, moving from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The announcements were made during the day’s plenary session, marking another shift in the political alignment within the House.
