President Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town for 30th Anniversary of Mining Indaba

President Cyril Ramaphosa is at the Cape Town International Convention Centre for this year’s Mining Indaba. He was received by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, and the Chair of the Investing in African Mining Indaba Mr Frans Baleni.

This year’s Indaba is hosted under the theme: “Embracing the power of positive disruption: A bold new future for African Mining”, marking 30 years as Africa’s premier platform for deal-making and conversation around matters critical to the mining sector. The President’s participation emphasises the significance of collaboration and sustainable development in the mining industry.

He is expected to share insights and contribute to disruptive discussions aimed at finding opportunities and addressing challenges within the sector. The event showcases Africa’s commitment to attracting investment in its mining sector.

Other speakers at the event include Sinead Kaufman, CEO, Rio Tinto Minerals Rio Tinto; Mzila Mthenjane, CEO Minerals Council South Africa; Benedikt Sobotka, CEO Eurasian Resources Group; Marie-Chantal Kaninda, President Glencore DRC and Chairman KCC. The Mining Indaba is expected to wrap up on February 8, 2024
