Telegram Fined by Russian Court Over Banned Content

A Moscow court has imposed a fine of four million rubles (equivalent to 41,400 U.S. dollars) on Telegram Messenger for its refusal to delete content banned in Russia, the court’s press service announced.

Telegram was charged with an administrative offence for not complying with the requirement to “remove information when such removal is required by Russian law,” the court said in a statement.
The court did not indicate if the banned content led to the imposition of the fine.
