Egyptian striker Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet scored a stoppage time winner to send Aston Villa into their first League Cup final in 10 years with a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

Another African, Kelechi Iheanacho had levelled for Leicester 18 minutes from time after Matt Target’s early opener put Villa in front.

Nigeria’s Iheanacho led the line for the Foxes and was on for the entire duration. His compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi also featured for 90 minutes.

Tanzania’s Mbwana Samatta made his Villa debut after completing an £8.5 million move from Genk but failed to make an impact for his new club.

Villa eventually got the victory when Egyptian, Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross was met by compatriot, Trezeguet, three minutes into added time.

Trezeguet who was mobbed at the final whistle and had to be taken off the field by Villa security as the home fans celebrated wildly.

Aston Villa now head to Wembley on March 1 to face either Manchester City or Manchester United who contest the other semifinal.
