The Department of State Services (DSS) has detained a 32-year-old blogger named Sylvester Augustus for duplicating its official website and publishing a fraudulent recruitment announcement.

The individual, from Akwa Ibom State, was arrested on Thursday at his home on Akpan Eno Lane in Abak.

As reported by DSS sources, Augustus, a University of Uyo graduate and content creator, replicated the agency’s website to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians into thinking that the DSS was holding a recruitment drive.

“Augustus, an Abak Local Government Area resident in Akwa Ibom State, was located and apprehended by our operatives on Thursday at his home.

He described himself as a University of Uyo graduate, a blogger, and a content creator.” The source revealed.

Augustus had created a counterfeit DSS website, where he published a fake online recruitment announcement, apparently intending to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

The DSS quickly identified the fraudulent notice as a hoax and warned the public to avoid falling prey to such scams.
