Cross River Governor Dissolves University Council

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved the immediate dissolution of the University of Cross River State’s current governing council.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, confirmed the appointment of Prof. Francisca Bassey as the new acting vice-chancellor and Dr Fidelis Ugbo as pro-chancellor.

Additionally, Hon. Francis Ettah and Prof. Susan Etim will serve as members of the new Governing Council, with further members to be announced soon.

The governor has directed the outgoing acting vice-chancellor to immediately hand over to Prof. Bassey to ensure a smooth and peaceful academic session.

The state government is committed to enhancing the welfare of staff and students and maintaining high standards in teaching and learning at the university. Full cooperation from the new governing council is expected to help improve the institution’s reputation.
