He was taken into custody in response to claims that he makes charms for kidnappers who terrorise the state by posing as Yahoo boys.

The state government passed the Anambra State Homeland Security Law in 2025 due to the high crime rate.

Native doctors who make or administer charms, such as the notorious “Odeshi,” “Okeite,” and “Mkpu Egbe,” face severe punishments under the new rule.

The new law now imposes a penalty of N20 million, six years in prison, or both on offenders.

The law specifically targets those who make charms that are thought to offer money or protection through illegal means, as well as those who openly support such activities.
