Nigeria Police Dismiss Reports of SARS Reinstatement

The Nigeria Police Force has refuted the rumours regarding the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) under a new framework.

In a statement titled “Disclaimer: SARS Remains Dissolved,” released in Abuja on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed that SARS, which was disbanded on October 11, 2020, remains permanently inactive.

“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in service. The recent claims concerning the reformation of SARS and its rules of engagement should be regarded with skepticism.”
