Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has announced that Alejandro Garnacho will treat his teammates to dinner as a way to apologise for heading straight down the tunnel after being substituted during the team’s Premier League victory over Ipswich.
The sending off of Patrick Dorgu just before halftime on Wednesday resulted in a tactical adjustment, with the 20-year-old Argentinian Garnacho leaving the field immediately after being replaced by defender Noussair Mazraoui.
Following the 3-2 victory, Amorim stated he would have a conversation with Garnacho, who proactively approached the United head coach on Thursday morning to discuss the incident.
“He came to me,” the United manager said on Friday. “It was funny because in the next day he came to me, to my office.
“I did some investigations, and he went to the dressing room, he changed his clothes because he was wet.
“He watched the game in the different (place), not in the bench. In the end of the game he was there, then he went home, so there’s not an issue there.” Amorim said.
FA Cup holders United host fellow Premier League side Fulham in the fifth round of the competition on Sunday, desperate to stay on track for silverware this season.
