Ruben Dias has been included in the Portugal squad for their upcoming Nations League quarter-final clash against Denmark, following his recovery from a muscular injury. The Manchester City defender, 27, has been sidelined since picking up the injury during Premier League action but is now fit to return.
Alongside Dias, Sporting Lisbon’s 17-year-old striker Geovany Quenda has earned his first call-up to the senior squad, with coach Roberto Martinez praising the young talent’s potential. “At 17, being in the national team shows his potential,” Martinez said, emphasizing that Quenda’s age was “not a problem.” The coach added that the selection process was “meticulous and professional.”
Portugal will face Denmark on March 20 in Copenhagen, with the return leg scheduled for the following Sunday in Lisbon.
Portugal’s 26-man squad includes a mix of established stars and fresh talent, although injuries have sidelined Joao Cancelo and Otavio from the selection.
