Nigeria has taken a significant step towards sustainable energy with the official launch of the NEV T6 Electric Bus, alongside its charging infrastructure, marking a major milestone in the country’s transition to clean, technology-driven transportation.
The event, held in Abuja, saw industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators come together to celebrate the country’s breakthrough in green mobility and energy efficiency.
During the launch, Chief Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, described the initiative as a game-changer for the nation’s transport sector, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasised that the electric bus and the infrastructure supporting it directly contribute to key goals such as economic growth, job creation, energy transformation, and industrialisation, which are central to the Renewed Hope 8-Point Agenda.
“The NEV T6 Electric Bus is more than just a vehicle—it represents a bold step towards a cleaner, smarter, and more energy-efficient Nigeria. This initiative highlights the crucial role of technology-driven solutions in shaping our nation’s future,” said Chief Nnaji.
The launch highlights Nigeria’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, improving urban mobility, and embracing cutting-edge energy solutions. With the installation of advanced charging infrastructure, the country is further solidifying its determination to decarbonise the transport sector and create a more resilient energy ecosystem.
NEV Motors, the company behind the innovation, was commended for its leadership in sustainable mobility. The Minister assured that the government will continue to back pioneering clean energy solutions that align with Nigeria’s development objectives.
The introduction of the NEV T6 Electric Bus positions Nigeria as a leader in Africa’s clean energy and transport sectors. As global demand for green solutions grows, Nigeria’s investment in electric mobility is expected to attract further private sector investment, generate jobs, and accelerate the nation’s green industrialisation efforts.
This launch is more than just an event; it signals Nigeria’s commitment to a greener, more prosperous future driven by innovation, science, and technology.
