A confrontation occurred at the polling unit of Osun State Deputy Governor and Accord Party deputy governorship candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi, during Saturday’s governorship election in Ile-Ife.
The incident happened after the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, arrived at the polling unit.
Adereti had earlier cast his ballot at Waasin Polling Unit 11, Ilaare Ward 3, before proceeding to Adewusi’s polling location.
His arrival reportedly drew resistance from some Adewusi supporters at the polling unit, leading to a heated confrontation between the two sides.
The incident briefly disrupted the otherwise calm atmosphere as supporters exchanged words and tensions escalated. The reason for Adereti’s visit to the deputy governor’s polling unit was not stated.
Security personnel were on the scene as efforts were made to prevent the confrontation from escalating further.
