Troops Neutralise Two Bandits, Recover Arms in Plateau State

Troops of the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN have neutralised two armed bandits and recovered a cache of weapons and other items in a successful intelligence-led raid on a suspected hideout in Teng Mountain/Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

The operation, which took place on May 12, 2025, forms part of continued offensive efforts to rid the Joint Operations Area of criminal elements. According to military sources, the troops made contact with the bandits during the operation and overpowered them through superior firepower, leading to the deaths of two suspects.

A follow-up exploitation of the area led to the recovery of several items, including:

  • One AK-47 rifle
  • One AK-47 magazine
  • One fabricated rifle capable of firing 7.62mm (Special) ammunition
  • Seven rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition
  • Four mobile phones
  • Two motorcycles
  • A cash sum of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred Naira (₦157,900)

The military confirmed that the recovered arms and ammunition are currently in their custody, while the mobile phones are undergoing forensic analysis to aid in tracking and apprehending other members of the criminal network.

Operation SAFE HAVEN has assured members of the public of its continued resolve to sustain relentless offensive actions against criminal elements in the region.

“We remain committed to maintaining security across Plateau State and adjoining areas,” the military said, reaffirming its determination to safeguard communities and dismantle bandit networks operating within its area of responsibility.
